The New Brighton Residents Association is governed first and foremost by the Alberta Companies Act, and secondly by the most current Articles of Association as filed with the Government of Alberta. Please view the current Articles of Association for the organization by clicking on the link below.
NBRA Articles of Association
During the Annual General Meeting held on October 20, 2020, the NBRA Board of Directors requested member approval of the revised Articles of Association (by-laws) to allow the Company to host future Annual General Meetings through a virtual meeting platform as required. The amended Articles of Association were approved at this meeting and are available by clicking HERE.
The New Brighton Clubhouse and Park is for the exclusive use of New Brighton residents and their guests. It is the intent of the New Brighton Residents Association (NBRA) to maximize the safe enjoyment of the premises for all members. In this regard, the following regulations have been established. The New Brighton Residents Association reserves the right to change and add regulations without notice.
General Rules
- Members MUST have a valid New Brighton Clubhouse card in order to enter the park.
- Members and their guests use the park facilities at their own risk.
- The NBRA does not provide supervision or lifeguards within the park. Guardians are responsible for their children at all times.
- Children under 12 years old are not permitted in the Clubhouse or Park without the accompaniment of a parent or guardian.
- The New Brighton Clubhouse is a family friendly environment, so please be sure to wear appropriate attire at all times.
- Bicycles, scooters, rollerblades, roller-skates, skateboards, and glass containers are not permitted anywhere in the park (including: walkways, sidewalks, tennis courts, pleasure rink, and Splash Park). Rollerblades are permitted for use on the hockey rink only. Patrons are asked to use the bench beside the hockey rink to change in/out of rollerblades.
- Animals are not permitted in the park, with the exception of seeing eye dogs.
- Alcohol and smoking (including e-cigarettes, vaping and chewing tobacco) are not permitted in the park.
- Open fires are not permitted within the NBRA park.
- Members must refrain from using foul language in the park.
- Rambunctious and unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated.
Membership
- New Brighton Residents Association fees are mandatory. An encumbrance is registered against the title of the homeowner.
- The encumbrance fees are due on April 1st of every year and are payable to the New Brighton Residents Association. They may be paid by mailing a cheque or can be paid directly at the office of the New Brighton Residents Association located at 2 New Brighton Drive S.E.
- A “Member” is defined in the Articles of Association of the New Brighton Residents Association.
- Members must possess a valid membership card to demonstrate that they are in good standing for access to the New Brighton Clubhouse.
- Each member MUST present his or her membership card upon entrance into the park. In the case of lost cards, members will be required to purchase a replacement card for $10 on the third visit without a card.
- Membership cards are not transferable.
- To obtain a membership card, registered homeowners will need to bring a copy of their Certificate of Title into the Clubhouse office.
- Renters will need to bring in a completed transfer of privileges form (signed by their landlord), along with a copy of their lease agreement to the Clubhouse office; in order to obtain their membership cards.
- Unmarried children, boarders, and nannies (who are living in a New Brighton home), will be required to bring in a childcare membership form along with proof of residence (drivers license or mail with the New Brighton address); to obtain their membership card.
- Members must possess a valid membership card to demonstrate that they are in good standing for access to the New Brighton Clubhouse.
- All household members over the age of 12 may obtain their own membership card with parental consent.
- Membership cards are the property of the NBRA. Cards may be revoked if rules are not followed. Members over the age of 18 are permitted to bring a maximum of 5 guests/household, each visit.
- Members between the age of 12 to 18 are permitted to bring in two guests or siblings, each visit.
- Members assume all responsibility for their guests and their actions while visiting the NBRA Clubhouse and Park.
- Guests must enter and leave the park with the member. Members must be present with their guests during the entire visit.
- Residents who are eligible for their own membership cannot be signed in as a guest.
Equipment Rentals
- Members wishing to borrow equipment must leave their NBRA membership card at the front desk until the item is returned.
- All equipment must be returned to the office prior to 9:30pm each evening.
- Any equipment that is damaged or unsafe should be returned to the office immediately.
- Damaged or lost equipment will result in a replacement charge due to the NBRA immediately.
Tennis Courts
- Tennis courts are to be used for tennis only.
- Soft-soled shoes must be worn while using the tennis courts.
- Chairs and other hard objects are not permitted on the courts, as they will cause damage.
- The courts are available on a first come, first serve basis.
- Please be mindful of the 30 minute courtesy rule during busy times.
- Periodically, the tennis courts will be closed by the NBRA for scheduled registered programs.
- Proper tennis etiquette should prevail to resolve disputes.
Volleyball Court
- The volleyball court is designed for volleyball, which takes precedence over all other activities.
- Children are asked to use the sandbox located beside the playground for sand play.
- The courts are available on a first come, first serve basis.
- Please be mindful of the 30 minute courtesy rule during busy times.
- Periodically, the volleyball court may be closed by the NBRA for scheduled registered programs.
- Proper volleyball etiquette should prevail to resolve disputes.
Splash Park
- The Splash Park is intended for children under 12, with supervision.
- Bathing suits are required by all Splash Park patrons.
- Swim diapers are required for all children who are not toilet trained.
- Footwear is recommended at all times.
- Nudity of any form is prohibited in the NBRA park, please use the indoor facilities for changing clothes and diapers.
- The following is prohibited in the Splash park: glass containers, drinks, gravel, sand, garbage, alcohol, gum, pets, cigarettes, vaping, food, chewing tobacco, bikes, skateboards/rollerblades, and scooters.
- To keep our Splash Park in great working condition, please remove all sand from your child prior to them enjoying the splash features.
- Patrons must remove themselves from the Splash Park immediately if: requested to do so by an NBRA employee, poor weather conditions exist (high winds, heavy rain, lightning, etc.), or a fecal accident occurs (please report to any NBRA staff immediately, upon discovery).
- Those patrons with diarrhea or a history of diarrhea within the past two weeks, are asked to refrain from using the splash park.
- All patrons will be asked to vacate the Splash Park premises immediately when a fecal matter accident occurs. For health and safety of all patrons, the Splash Park will be closed for a minimum four hour period to ensure proper chemical treatment of the system.
Hockey and Pleasure Skating Rink Rules
- All users are urged to act in a safely manner and are responsible and accountable for their actions.
- Alcohol, smoking, vaping, and chewing tobacco are not permitted in the NBRA Park and Amenities.
- Apart from water in closed containers, no food or drinks are allowed at any time.
- Skaters must remain off the ice until the ice maintenance is completed, and the Zamboni is off the ice surface.
- All participants must wear skates while on the ice surface, as salt and other substances carried onto the ice on the bottom of boots can cause severe damage to the ice.
- Wearing a helmet is strongly encouraged on all ice surfaces and mandatory for all skating programs hosted by the NBRA.
- Hockey pucks or sticks are not allowed on the Pleasure Skating Rink. Pucks and sticks are permitted on the Ice Hockey Rink only.
- Check our website for a daily rink schedule.
- For the safety of all patrons, the Pleasure Skating and Hockey Rinks will be closed for usage when the temperature is below -20 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Anyone found damaging or vandalizing NBRA property may be required to make full restitution to the NBRA.
- Please use the garbage and recycling bins provided to keep the park tidy.
- The NBRA does not provide any supervision for the Clubhouse & Park use. Parents or guardians are responsible for their children under the age of 12 at all times. Please watch your children to ensure they are acting in a safe and cooperative manner.
- The NBRA staff have full authority to evict any person who displays unacceptable behaviour, including physical or verbal abuse of any kind. Depending on the severity, patrons may be suspended from the site for an extended period of time and police may be contacted.
- There is a risk of injury associated with any activities within Ice Hockey and Pleasure Skating Rink, therefore members and their guests are reminded that the use of all NBRA Facilities, Park, and Amenities is at their own risk.
- The NBRA does not accept liability for any damage or loss of personal items or personal injury.
- Periodically, the Pleasure Skating and Hockey Rinks may be closed by the NBRA for scheduled registered programs.
Violations of Clubhouse and Park Rules
Violations of any of the aforementioned Clubhouse and Park rules may result in a warning or a suspension of membership privileges for a period of time that is deemed appropriate by management.
Please Remember
In all matters (whether or not specifically covered herein), courtesy and common sense shall prevail. Play safe and be respectful of the Clubhouse, Park and Amenities, as well as other members visiting the premises. Members are encouraged to bring forward any questions or concerns to the front office.
